After a decade of determined efforts to promote the circulation of scientific and technical culture the time has come to carry out an assessment.

We will deal here with the French situation from the very pragmatic point-of-view of job creation brought about by the development of the activities of scientific and technical information and communication

Our reflection will be based on two complementary sets of data:

-   an assessment of six years of functioning of the scientific and technical information and communication section at the University of Paris 7

-   the conclusions of the National Conference organized on the initiative of the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports to be held at the University of Paris 7 on February 7th and 8th 1991 on the theme: "Museology and Scientific and Technical Cultural Action. What Sorts of Training for What Professions?"
