Literature can be a powerful way to make science outreach. All public libraries in Barcelona use to offer different kinds of reading clubs to their users, most of them are specialized in many different thematic as for example German authors, historic literature, travel literature, etc. In 2005, the scientific culture commissioner of the Barcelona City Council proposed to organize a reading club on science. This experience began in the 2005-2006 academic year and now the third edition is being run. The club has increased its number of participants year by year and has spread to other public libraries.

The case of Barcelona public libraries has shown among other things, that science reading clubs attract new different audiences. In the presentation we will explain the activity dynamics, the type of selected books, the profile of participants and some results obtained through the surveys replied by the participants.
