'Communicating Science: A Global Perspective' launch webinar posted

21 September 2020

Five authors representing different regions and cultures spoke at the launch.  The authors' panel was: Brooke Smith, Margaret Kaseje, Manzoor Hussain Soomro, Alexandra Borissova and Toss Gascoigne.  Joan Leach chaired. The session was recorded and has been posted to the PCST YouTube channel.

The launch was a wonderful mix of accents from the US, Kenya, Pakistan, Russia and Australia.  Over 200 people attended the event.

Many people commented on the strong international nature of the panel.  This is a strong point of the PCST Network, and the book not have been possible without the network that PCST has created.

PCST is a great asset to international discussions on science communication.

'Communicating Science: A Global Perspective' charts the emergence of modern science communication across the world. This is the first volume to map investment around the globe in science centres, university courses and research, publications and conferences as well as tell the national stories of science communication.

It all began with a post to the PCST discussion list in 2013, then prospective authors presented at our conference in Salvador in Brazil in 2014.  Further authors were recruited through the discussion list.

The final version of the book has 108 authors and covers 39 countries or regions.

Free copies can be downloaded from ANU Press.  Hard copies can be ordered from ANU Press for $AU150 (about $US110).
